What, exactly, do you build? And what’s the difference between an internal app and an external app?
An “app” — short for an application — is a software program that runs on a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet, and allows the user to perform a specific function or series of functions. A video game on your phone is an app. So is a painting program or, say, a remote banking program.

We build full-featured, native iPhone® apps, Android™ apps, BlackBerry® apps, iPad® apps, and mobile websites for organizations in the gaming and hospitality sectors.

An external app is designed for our clients’ customers. Most apps today are externally-focused – these are what brands use to advise customers, sell their products and services, guide customers around with interactive GPS-powered maps, play games with them, and serve as a mobile concierge.

An internal app is built for our clients’ employees. These apps act as a mobile intranet – allowing employees to schedule shifts, check 401k info, get internal communications alerts, book a conference room, view an executive presentation, process customer orders, get employee orientation materials, take continuing education classes, and be more productive on the go.

The apps we build allow you to interact with all your key audiences no matter where they are. To learn more, contact us.

Why do we need an app if we already have a website?
The popularity of mobile apps is through the roof. In fact, ABI Research expects global downloads of apps to rise to 29 billion this year, more than triple the nine billion downloaded in 2010. While traditional websites can be difficult to view and navigate on mobile devices because of their smaller screens, mobile apps and mobile websites are designed to be viewed on smaller screens, and they are made to take advantage of the built-in capabilities of mobile devices—such as GPS chips or the accelerometer. Mobile apps also allow you to be with your customers 24 hours a day, seven days a week. While most people are not in front of a computer all the time, they do carry their phones with them wherever they go.

How is your process different than traditional mobile app building shops?
Traditional mobile app design shops build an app, give it to your IT team, and wish you luck.

Our process is more hands-on and long-term. From day one, we really get to know your organization and your needs, and we help you through design, launch, and with all ongoing support and continual improvements. As the mobile market changes, your apps continue to evolve and improve thanks to all the work we do on our end. Our mobile apps are hosted in the cloud and powered by our proprietary app-management platform.

If you’re not sure what cloud hosting is, think of Yahoo Mail or Gmail. Your email data is stored on Yahoo’s servers and Google’s servers so that you can access your email from any web browser. When the companies improve their email service, they update it for you – you don’t have to do anything. It’s always improving, and always accessible from any computer. Our mobile apps work in the same way. There are no IT or interoperability issues to worry about, you can update everything yourself (even if you don’t know anything about computers), and you can access your mobile app’s content management homepage from any web browser.

This approach means you don’t have to worry that your mobile app and mobile website will become outdated in eight months. Long after we build your mobile app, you will continue to get our latest new upgrades, tech support, analytics, best practice insight and more to make sure your product is always cutting-edge.

How soon after I sign a contract can we have our mobile app up and running?
It depends on you. Both your team and our team contribute to making decisions about design and content. If your team is fast and you’d like us to be even faster, your mobile app could be up and running in as little as eight weeks.

Do you create native apps or web apps/mobile Wireless Application Protocol sites?
Both.
Back to questions

How do we earn revenue from the apps?
There are dozens of ways to generate substantial cost savings and additional revenue from your mobile solutions. Sample sources of revenue include: selling more products and services, adding incremental gaming revenue, opening up new sponsorship opportunities, improving employee efficiencies, reducing direct mail costs and much more. We have an outstanding track record in this regard, and one of our senior leaders can walk you through your options and how we’ll track ROI with you.

Who inputs all our information and maintains the content in our mobile app and mobile website?
Some of our customers like to manage everything themselves, while others prefer to have us to do it. Either way works. The Bally Mobile platform makes maintaining content simple—you just log-in to your app’s content management homepage and make your edits, and then all of those changes are immediately reflected on all of your native apps and mobile websites.
