Bally’s Server-Based Interactive Player Panel Technology Takes Home Top Judges’ and Attendees’ Awards at Recent Gaming Technology Summit in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, May 28, 2009 — Bally Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: BYI), a leader in slots, video machines, and casino-management systems for the global gaming industry, continued its award-winning streak by taking the two top awards in Casino Journal’s “Top 20 Most Innovative Gaming Technology Products of 2008” competition late last week at the Gaming Technology Summit in Las Vegas, Nev.
Bally’s iVIEW Display Manager (iVIEW DM) won the top Platinum award after a panel of experienced industry professionals evaluated 83 entries and then narrowed down the field to 20 before naming the top three platinum, gold, and silver award winners at the annual conference.
In addition, attendees at the Gaming Technology Summit, who were given the opportunity to vote for their favorite innovative product, also voted for iVIEW DM and honored Bally with the conference’s only “Attendee Choice Award”.
“This recognition for iVIEW DM builds on our leading server-based player-communication network and is an exciting testament to Bally’s technology leadership and commitment to leveraging customer investments,” said Richard M. Haddrill, Bally’s Chief Executive Officer.
Bally’s iVIEW DM, an extension of its iVIEW™ server-based player-communication network, turns any game that uses industry-standard protocols and has a video display into a new delivery system for customized marketing at the point of play; a way to offer self-service features for players such as ordering a favorite drink; and a new way to offer second-chance-to-win bonusing and tournament events.
With iVIEW DM, marketing messages are not limited to the traditional iVIEW SmartScreen display. This intelligent controller allows casinos to present messages and other interactive player features on panels on the main game screen and the top game display, with picture-in-picture capability so game play is not interrupted.
“At a time when capital is so precious to gaming operators, iVIEW DM allows them to maintain their existing game inventory while adding enhanced excitement and convenience for players and new ways to cross-promote casino and hotel amenities -- right at the gaming machine and without interrupting play,” Haddrill added.
Already proven in the field, iVIEW DM interfaces seamlessly with Bally’s iVIEW suite of interactive player-communication tools, Bally CoolSign™ media-management solution, and Bally’s Power Bonusing™ suite.
The May 2009 issue of Casino Journal included comments from the judges in the “Top 20 Most Innovative Gaming Technology Products of 2008” competition. One judge said he would deploy iVIEW DM if his property either had or planned to get a Bally Technologies’ slot system. Another judge called it a “home run.” One judge said, “I would recommend the product. It builds on the iVIEW and takes it to the next level.”
Among the features cited by the judges were its “ability to run on most manufacturers’ machines,” and its “ability to deliver content at the gaming machine in multiple ways, creating lots of possibilities and flexibility.”
Bally’s iVIEW DM also received the “Best Consumer Service Technology” 2008 Global Gaming Business Gaming & Technology Award and CEM’s 2008 Slot Floor Technology Award.
